About John

Drums, passion, and a lifetime of making music.

John C. Radomski is a percussionist, educator, and recording artist with over a decade of experience developing successful music programs and mentoring young musicians across Central Indiana.

An instrumental and music education graduate of Ball State University, John studied with Craig Hetrick, Assistant Principal Percussionist of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and Dr. Erwin Mueller Emeritus, Professor of Percussion, at Ball State.

John’s passion for percussion began in his 5th-grade band and has grown into a lifelong dedication to performance and teaching.

He began his career as Percussion Director at Southport High School, where he built competitive percussion ensembles, designed marching percussion curriculum, and managed logistics and budgets. From 2013 to 2019, John served as Band Director at Southport 6th Grade Academy and Middle School, helping cultivate a thriving band program with an 85–90% student retention rate.

In 2019, John joined Franklin Township Community Schools as Band Director at Kitley Intermediate School, where he guided more than 170 beginning musicians each year, arranged multiple beginning percussion ensemble pieces that were performed by his students, and grew program participation from 115 to 200 students, achieving a 95% retention rate. He also served as Battery Coordinator for the world-class Franklin Central High School Indoor Percussion Program, helping manage staff, curriculum, and rehearsal operations.

In 2023, John transitioned from public education to focus full-time on performing and private instruction. As a performer, he has worked across a wide range of genres on drum set, timpani, and concert percussion. His credits include performances with Colton Chapman, High Octane Drumline (Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Indiana Fever), Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Children’s Choir, Swing Shift Indy, Five After Midnight, and several community ensembles and churches.

That same year, John launched a remote recording business, collaborating with artists nationwide. After relocating to Washington in the fall of 2025 with his wife, Haley, he now performs as the drummer for local singer-songwriter Kellie Rose while continuing to expand his performing and teaching work.

“I wouldn't have wanted to take lessons with anyone else but him”

”Taking lessons with Mr. Radomski was the sole reason for where I am today in my percussion/drum set journey, and without him, I would not be here. I took lessons with him for about 2 years. While 2 years may seem short, it can change anyone's game with someone as talented, and as good at teaching as Mr. Radomski. Whether it was the countless Carter Beauford references, or the many times he would tell me to slow my craft down that way I could shape it, everything he taught me was for a purpose. I have developed a passion for percussion over the last few years, especially in my drum set playing, and Mr Radomski has helped me develop that passion in the best way possible. The biggest memory I have of taking lessons with him was when he gave me a fistbump after I scored a perfect on my solo. It was the feeling as if you and your best friend had just accomplished something insane, and in a sense that is what happened. Overall, if you are looking to take drumming lessons with anyone, Radomski is the man! I wouldn't have wanted to take lessons with anyone else but him.”

“John the Drummer checks every box”

John Radomski is the definition of a good egg. John’s incredibly talented and he’s truly honed his instrument and his craft in all the ways you’d hope a drummer would. John is creative, genuine and can read the room. He knows when to push and when to encourage. John is a rare find and I recommend him because I can always count on the outcome of his involvement. John cares about people and has a servant’s heart. Whether it’s live performance, rehearsal, session work or teaching, John the Drummer checks every box and consistently exceeds expectations.

“makes lessons feel comfortable and enjoyable without losing any quality of his teaching”

“Having lessons with John Radomski is always a pleasure and an honor. He always gives the information needed to improve both in lessons and how to continue improving when not. He pushes his students to work hard while keeping his teaching level with their skill and not straying from emphasizing fundamentals. He always gives room for mistakes and makes lessons feel comfortable and enjoyable without losing any quality of his teaching and drive to make his students excellent.”

“The easiest decision you’ll make in your line up”

John is a true musician. You can find drummers anywhere, but it’s hard to find the really good ones who elevate your music. John is the latter.

He always found a way to play what was right for the performance, while also making it fun to perform on stage. I’ve gone from excited and pumped, to making the stankiest of bass faces reacting to his fills, to laughing as he cracks jokes all in the same night.

John is also extremely professional. His communication is clear. He arrives ahead of time to set up his equipment. And he always maintains a professional demeanor when interacting with booking agents, bartenders, clients, etc.

Having John as a drummer for your group is the easiest decision you’ll make in your line up.”

“makes it easy to lock in and just focus on the groove”

“I always love playing bass with John. His energy is contagious and instantly lifts the whole band. His time is rock solid, which makes it easy to lock in and just focus on the groove. He leads with confidence and great musical awareness, laying down a strong foundation that lets everyone play comfortably and creatively. John is an incredible musician who pays attention to the little details and always seems to know exactly how to support the band in the most musical way.”
